European Forum II

This project is a continuation of the project European Forum I. The overall objective of this project is to support Serbia and Montenegro\'s efforts towards EU association and integration by contributing to the reaching of a national consensus for the EU integration of Serbia and Montenegro. The idea is to present the process of EU integration to the public in an expert, relevant and attractive way. After being published for a year, European Forum gained an audience who gets valuable information in the only publication of its kind.

The project goal is to raise the level of awareness and knowledge on issues of the EU integration of Serbia and Montenegro among members of target groups (politicians, civil servants, NGO activists and journalists).

The project activities included:

  • A monthly supplement "European Forum" which was published in the form of a regular monthly supplement of the most influential Serbian political weekly "Vreme" which offered an in-depth insight into the process of Serbia and Montenegro\'s European integration (4 new issues). It was printed in 20 000 copies and was distributed in former Yugoslavia countries.
  • European Forum panel discussions which each time gathered 3 reputable experts who discussed typical issues concerning EU-Serbia and Montenegro relations. The discussions had a host-mediator, and guests - public figures from Serbia and Montenegro, EU and other countries. The discussions were held at the Media Center (Belgrade) once a month in the presence of journalists from the press and electronic media. The moderator was Lazar Maricevic, Chairman of Board of CDS.
  • Web site presentation, web portal, was made for the purposes of the project.
Project was realized in cooperation with Pax Christi Netherlands and BECEI - Belgrade.

The continuation of the project "European Forum I" had the following goals:

  • To offer a thorough yet clear understanding of the Euro-Atlantic integration processes to the public;
  • To provide an opportunity for a public debate about EU integration of Serbia & Montenegro, and particularly about reforms that are to be undertaken with this aim in mind;
  • To quicken the fast and successful Euro-Atlantic integration of our country, simultaneously engaging the public and helping the government.
European Forum is published in 20 000 copies per issue, accompanying the weekly Vreme that is distributed in former Yugoslavia republics (Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia & Hercegovina, Slovenia, and Macedonia). In addition, 1000 copies of the supplement are distributed for free throughout Serbia and Montenegro to the most important and most interested institutions, organizations and individuals: Government ministries, state administration, parliament members and staff, political parties, non-governmental organizations, universities, research institutes, media, local communities, foreign diplomatic and economic representatives, etc.
